Filmkritik: “Verblendung”
Viele gute Krimis kommen aus den Skandinavien. Dies hat vielleicht damit zu tun, dass die Winter lang sind und die Autoren viel Zeit zum schreiben haben. Vielleicht auch damit, dass die Kälte im Norden so unerbittlich ist und Gedanken auch über menschliche Kälte nicht mehr so fern sind.
Vielleicht ist aber auch der Kontrast so schön zu beschreiben … wo friedlich Elche in den Wäldern nach Nahrung suchen, Pärchen im Sommerhaus ein Wochenende am See verbringt – hinter diese Fassade lauert häufig das Grauen.
Bekannte Autoren sind sicherlich Henning Mankell und Liza Marklund aus Schweden oder Leif Davidsen aus Dänemark.
Ein weiterer – aktuell sehr gehypter Autor – aus Schweden ist Stieg Larsson. Larsson ist allerdings leider schon 2004 gestorben – zu diesem Zeitpunkt konnte er erst drei von zehn geplanten Büchern über den Ermittler bzw. Wirtschaftsjournalisten Mikael Blomkvist fertigstellen. Das erste der Bücher aus dieser Reihe nennt sich “Verblendung” und war 2008 das bestverkaufte Buch der EU.
Eine Verfilmung der Bücher ist daher nicht wirklich überraschend – zumal sich die Bücher sehr gut für eine filmische Umsetzung eignen. “Verblendung” ist ein solider Krimi, nicht sonderlich originell, aber mit einer Geschichte, die ihren Reiz aus dem eher ungewöhnlichen Ermittlerduo bezieht.
Der Hauptstrang der Geschichte dreht sich um das rätselhafte Verschwinden des Mädchens “Harriet”. Den schwedischen Großindustriellen Henrik Vanger quält seit 40 Jahren das bisher ungeklärte Schicksal seiner Lieblingsnichte und beauftragt den Journalisten Mikael Blomkvist einen allerletzen Versuch zu unternehmen das Rätsel doch noch zu lösen – was ihm selbstverständlich auch gelingt.
Dabei arbeitet und wohnt er auf einer einsamen, tief verschneiten schwedischen Insel und erhält im Laufe der Untersuchung unerwartete Unterstützung von Lisbeth Salander – einer skurrilen, 24jährigen Ermittlerin.
Die wörtliche Übersetzung des Buches ist “Männer, die Frauen hassen” … der Titel passt besser als “Verblendung”, da das Verschwinden von Harriet in einem direktem Zusammenhang mit verschiedenen Frauenmorden gebracht wird. Im Umfeld der Protagonisten stoßen diese im Laufe des Ermittlungen auf menschliche Abgründe und einige recht drastisch dargestellte Szenen, wobei die Hintergründe hierfür allerdings nicht oder nur sehr oberflächlich dargestellt werden.
Trailer:
Der Film versucht die Handlung des Buches weitgehend zu adaptieren – lässt aber aus Zeitgründen einige Handlungsstränge komplett weg. Die im Buch weitläufigen Familiengeschichten sind bspw. nur sehr rudimentär bewahrt.
Im Buch – und auch im Film – avanciert die recht bizarre Lisbeth Salander mit dem Fortgang der Handlung immer mehr zur heimlichen Hauptfigur.
Im Film ist Lisbeth mit Noomi Rapace gut besetzt. Leider bleibt im Film bei Lisbeth Salander vieles offen, manches wirkt arg überzeichnet.
Die Figur im Gegensatz zum Buch eher unglaubwürdig dargestellt. Das hat weniger mit der schauspielerischen Leistung von Rapace zu tun – vielmehr mit ihrer plötzlichen Wandlung als sie ausnahmsweise mal freundlich behandelt wird.
Positiv:
- Guter Cast
- Schweden bietet ein gutes und unverbrauchtes Setting: Der Film wirkt passend düster, grau und trübe – ein schöner Gegensatz zu den langweiligen Hochglanz Hollywood-Produktionen
Negativ:
- Der Bösewicht ist nicht wirklich charismatisch und nicht wie ein gefährlicher Gegenspieler
- Lisbeths Charakter ist unglaubwürdig dargestellt
- Lisbeth soll DIE „Hackerin“ in Schweden sein und greift dann pausenlos in Sekundenschnelle auf wildfremde Rechner zu. Das stört vor allem deswegen weil bei anderen Elementen der Geschichte Wert auf eine möglichst realisitische Darstellung gelegt wurde
Fazit:
“Verblendung” ist ein angenehm düsterer Thriller, der mit Schweden ein unverbrauchtes Setting mitbringt. Interessant ist im Film (wie im Buch) die Beziehung des ungleichen Ermittlerduos, wobei Lisbeth teilweise ziemlich unglaubwürdig daherkommt.
