FILMKRITIK: Moon
Ich bin großer Fan von SciFi-Filmen wie 2001, Solaris, Blade Runner oder Alien I.
Also SciFi-Filmen, die im Gegensatz zu den nervigen Jar Jar Binks-Albernheiten oder dem Computerspiel-Look wie den letzten StarWars-Filmen eher in einer Dystopie spielen und sich dementsprechend durch eine düstere Stimmung / Setting auszeichnen.
In genau diesem von mir geliebten “intelligent SciFi” Umfeld sollte auch der Film Moon spielen. Für mich also ein Pflichtfilm, der gestern beim Fantasy Filmfest in Köln im Kino lief (es ist noch nicht ganz klar ob Moon regulär in die deutschen Kinos kommen wird).
Zum Film ist einleitend zu sagen, dass dies das Regie-Debut von Duncan Jones ist – dies ist der Sohn von David Bowie (dessen richtiger Name ist David Robert Jones).
Das Budget für Moon war das mit ca. 5 Mio. US $ (laut Wikipedia) recht gering.
Zum Vergleich hatten allerdings auch andere SciFi-Klassiker ein kleines Budget. So hatte bspw. Alien I damals (1979) auch nur ca. 10 Mio. US$ zur Verfügung.

Zum Inhalt
Der Film spielt in der Zukunft, in der die Energieprobleme der Erde gelöst sind. Und zwar liefert der Mond die auf der Erde benötigte Energie. Riesige vollautomatische Erntemaschinen sammeln Mondgestein, generieren daraus Energie, die dann zur Erde geschickt wird.
Diese Technik ist so stark automatisiert, dass lediglich ein einziger Mensch notwendig ist um Wartungsarbeiten durchzuführen und ab- und zu die Energiebehälter zur Erde zu schicken.
Um genau diesen Menschen – Sam Bell – handelt der Film, der sich für eine 3jährige Mission auf der Station verpflichtet hat.
*ACHTUNG SPOILER!!!*
Leider wird das “Geheimnis” des Films (zu) schnell klar: Und zwar ist Sam ein Klon. Seit vielen Jahren wird die Raumstation von Klonen betrieben, die künstliche Erinnerungen implantiert bekommen. Nach jeweils 3 Jahren gehen die Klone “kaputt” und der nächste Klon übernimmt. Sam findest dies im Film – auch durch die Mithilfe des Roboter GERTY – heraus. Ein Highlight des Films ist sicherlich neben dem tollen Schauspieler Sam Rockwell eben dieser Roboter GERTY, der wohl bewusst als Gegenstück zu HAL 9000 angelegt ist.
Die Story wird ausgedehnt und sehr nachvollziehbar erzählt. Es tuen sich jedoch einige Logik-Fragen auf:
- Wieso sterben die Klone eigentlich nach 3 Jahren?
- Wieso werden nicht gleich Roboter für die Tätigkeiten eingesetzt?
Laut Wikipedia ist “Moon” als Trilogie angelegt.
Jones is currently planning a follow up film, which will serve as an epilogue to Moon. “Sam has agreed to do a little cameo in the next film,” says Jones, who ultimately hopes to do three films in the Moon series.
Man darf also gespannt sein was in den nächsten noch so Teilen passiert – die Story muss sich dann auf jeden Fall noch um einiges aufgebohrt werden um für zwei weitere Teile zu genügen.
Fazit:
Moon ist ein schöner SciFi-Film mit viel Atmosphäre, der vom Setting an Alien I (10/10 Punkte) erinnert, gut von Sam Rockwell gespielt wird und ohne unnötige Action oder Albernheiten auskommt. Die Story ist wirklich gut, leider allerdings etwas dünn um für über 90min Film ausreichend Material zu liefern – das “Geheimnis” des Films wird dem Zuschauer leider ziemlich schnell präsentiert und der Film verliert danach etwas an Spannung.
Dennoch: Für alle die gute SciFi-Filme mögen, ist dies trotzdem ein Pflichtfilm.

Das Klon “Geheimnis” wie Du es nennst ist doch zweitrangig. Die Story baut nicht darauf auf, sondern darauf wie der Mensch damit umgeht und vor Allem ist der Grundkonflikt des Films ein ganz anderer: Die Verwertung des Menschen als ersetzbares Humankapital.
